The overall goal of the project is strengthen local government in Ecuador by promoting citizen participation, inhibiting corruption, and developing national and foreign investment in the selected intervention areas. We will strengthen the institutional management capacity of LAGs and District Councils through a number of strategies, including: (i) enhancing transparency; (ii) improving internal and external procedures; (iii) capacity-building for management and staff of LAGs and District Councils; (iv) promoting citizens rights and obligations; and (v) promoting key economic development projects based on the guidelines set forth by the Local Development Plans of each LAG.
